However, it always seemed that there was little opportunity for people, especially young people to not only meet but to interact with Australia’s amazing but often misunderstood animals. This feeling started a keen interest in herpetology that would eventually lead to a pursuit of environmental science and wildlife conservation.
Life would take me on a different path for a while as I met my husband and then became a mother of two beautiful boys, but that love of wildlife never went away.
Following the start of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns I decided it was time to return to this passion and began building Tiny Tails: Wildlife Discoveries.
Tiny Tails has several goals, First and foremost is to serve as a mobile entertainment and education program. Going to children’s parties, schools, or other events and creating an opportunity for people, in particular children, to be able to meet, hold and interact with some of Australia’s smaller reptiles, marsupials, amphibians, and invertebrates. Removing some of the stigmas surrounding them and creating a fun opportunity to learn.
Our longer-term goals are to establish a facility in Rural Victoria where we can publicly house our animals for viewing and invite schools for larger-scale educational opportunities. Both to give primary and secondary-aged students an opportunity to learn about Australia’s wonderful animals and to act as a gateway for those interested in pursuing careers in wildlife conservation. This facility would also serve as the centre of our breeding programs with a focus on endangered or near-endangered species.
Tiny Tails is the combination of a lifetime's love of Australian wildlife and I would like to thank you for being part of that journey.
